The Bank of Tinsel & Twinkle at Ridley Road market

We’ve been busy working away creating the sign for The Bank of Tinsel and Twinkle, ready to take to the Art Car Boot Fair on June 9th!

Last week we dressed in our banker uniforms and took our new bank sign to Ridley Road Market for a photoshoot with the photographer and talented film maker Phil Whitby.(

The market at Ridley Road in Dalston worked out as the ideal location for the shoot, positioning our Bank in amongst all of the independent traders.

Originally we considered doing the photoshoot using Canary Wharf as the backdrop but we decided on Ridley Road market because it seemed more fitting to the ethos of our bank.  Being positioned in the midst of a bustling market is about bringing trading back to its roots, a very human form of trade that is booming due to how expensive shops are.

The ethos of the bank is about sharing and exchange, we trade in thought rather than money.  We aren’t protesting about money itself but more so commenting on greed, and suggesting that capital is more useful when it is shared.

So we took our independent bank and set up amongst the other traders at Ridley Road.

Bank Notes with Thoughts: Post 1

15 May

Bank note 3

We have now started to upload and display some of the bank notes given back to us during our first staging of the Bank of T&T at A-Side B-Side Gallery last July. We’ve chosen a few to give a taster here and will be adding more and updating soon.

We’ll be continuing to collect these bank notes with people’s thoughts on each time we stage our bank, and each time will create a display like in these images:
